Archery

Archery is a great outdoor sport for groups of all ages, gender or physical ability and Glenworth Valley can offer fun, competitive tournaments for School groups or your next Team building day.

Archery was once one of life’s necessities from pre-historic hunting and now it is widely enjoyed as a pastime through to competition levels as an Olympic sport.

The art of bow and arrow has been used for survival, warfare, conquest, competition and recreation, but now Target Archery is now the most commonly practiced form of archery worldwide and within most Archery Australia clubs.

Shooting distances vary from 18 metres to 90 metres, with target sizes varying from 80 to122 centimetres. Targets have five colours with each colour being divided into 2 to provide 10 scoring zones. The innermost ring is given a value of 10 points, down to the outermost ring with a value of 1 point.

Target rounds involve shooting a set number of arrows over one or several distances shooting a total of up to 144 arrows, the winning team being the one with the highest point score.
