Agister ActivitiesAlthough you couldn't ask for a better riding environment than what is available at Glenworth Valley, there may be times you feel like doing something a little different. For that reason, there is always something else happening to keep you interested. See our 2006 events schedule for all dates of activities listed below. Junior Riding ClubThe Junior Riding Club has been developed to offer young riders under the age of 18 years the opportunity to further their horse knowledge, handling and riding skills in a safe, fun and professional environment.
These days are run in a similar fashion to Pony Club i.e. gear inspection, flatwork/hacking in the morning and sporting/jumping in the afternoon. The club days are held to benefit horses and riders of varying degrees of experience and are designed to bring the youth of Glenworth Valley together while improving their riding ability and horse skills. A lot of club days are followed by dinner at the local pizza place or a video night to watch the days events again. There is also an end of year gymkhana held which is lots of fun and gives all the under 18's a chance to practice all they've been taught throughout the year. Adult Riding ClubNot to be outdone by the under 18's we also organise riding clinics for the adults! These instructional clinics are held monthly and are structured in much the same way as the juniors. Visiting instructors are all at least Level 1 NCAS/EFA accredited and provide a variety of instruction including flatwork and jumping. Some clinics, such as those conducted by World Showjumper - Krissy Harris - are more specialized. Everyone is welcome to attend and all abilities are catered for. Social RidesDay Rides
We generally stop for lunch in a spot where non-riding family and friends can join us Overnight Rides Our inaugural overnight ride to "Ironbark" - Glenworth Valley's sister property - was held in August 2004. 33 intrepid adventurers rode from one beautiful valley to another through a fantastic display of winter wildflowers taking in the spectacular views along the way. All riders (and 10 additional non-riding family & friends) braved the elements to camp out overnight. It was such a successful weekend everyone was asking if we could do it again the next weekend! GymkhanaActually we call these "Fun-Khanas" because that's what these gymknhana's are all about. The main emphasis is on having fun with your horse, fellow agisters and family. These events are organized "by agisters, for agisters". They are suitable for all riding abilities and are generally split in to juniors, novice and advanced. Events include dressage, sporting events, jumping and cross-country and you can choose to participate in as many or as few events as you like. You don't need to have ever competed previously to be able to participate in any of the events There is a One Day Gymkhana held in April and a Two Day Gymkhana held in November. These events are always full of fun and excitement and are usually followed by a get-together BBQ in the valley in the evening. Games DaysOur agistment managers also organise a couple of "game days" throughout the year. Some are tried and tested events and others are completely made up which makes things unpredictable but lots of fun. The events are teams based and are planned so riders of all abilities can choose games of varying degrees of difficulty. All teams are picked on the day and each team receives an overview of each event just prior to them occurring so everyone is equally unsuspecting and unprepared which makes for some fun moments!!! Annual "Car Boot Sale" DayEach year GV has a type of Fair Day for agisters, family, friends, neighbours & local businesses. There are always lots of stalls and it is a great occasion to pick up a bargain or make a sale by clearing out your shed, car, etc that is overflowing with unused or outgrown horse gear that needs a new home. The car boot sale is usually combined with one of the twice yearly equine dentist days and includes free HorseLand saddle fittings, rugs and other tack fittings, sales prices on some HorseLand merchandise, reduced fees from vets to do vaccinations and raffles and a tasty BBQ to raise money for charity. Christmas PartyEvery year we have a Christmas Party for all of our agisters. The fun usually starts with a social ride followed by wine tasting, fine food, great entertainment and fantastic company. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow agisters, staff members and other friends associated with Glenworth Valley Agister MeetingsTwice yearly agister meetings are held to discuss current and future issues affecting all GV agisters. These meetings provide an opportunity to relay any suggestions and/or feedback regarding any thoughts and ideas you consider needs to take priority. These meetings are informal and our agistment managers usually put on a free sausage sizzle to satisfy your hunger before or after your ride. Other activities in the valley that agisters are welcome to join include:
